Our Special Relationship with Simia Circus

Beige Terrain 1

At Lily’s, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do and sometimes the best partnerships are just next door. As such, we’re incredibly proud of our relationship with Simia Circus, who are our neighbours at the Ashford production kitchen.

Simia Circus is a fellow Community Interest Company (CIC) whose work resonates so strongly with our own values. Through their inspiring circus school, they build confidence, strength, and resilience in young people, many of whom are neurodivergent, just like many of the brilliant individuals we support through our training and employment programmes at Lily’s.

Kaylee played a key role in the success of our HAF camps in summer 2024. She provided fantastic support for a number of children with SEN, helping them grow in confidence and develop their circus skills. Kaylee now assists in rec classes, as she builds up her own knowledge of aerial and teaching, and remains part of the HAF team.

From the very beginning, it was clear we had a shared ethos: supporting people to thrive, embracing differences and creating spaces where everyone can feel strong, capable, and included. It’s been a joy to have another CIC so close, not just geographically, but in spirit.

We’ve supported each other in so many ways:

Lily’s has been proud to provide catering for Simia’s HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) projects, to offer children attending holiday clubs a nutritious cooked lunch as part of their day. We have also catered for their parties and corporate events. It’s a partnership that feels completely natural, built on mutual support and a shared commitment to our communities.

Simia Circus were invited to showcase their incredible talents at our yearly celebration event in September. Their performance added so much energy, joy, and colour to the day – a true highlight that captured the spirit of everything we believe in: confidence, community, and celebration.

Our relationship grew even deeper during the Summer of 2024. Kaylee, one of our supported interns who is passionate about dance, fitness, and with aspirations to work in childcare, found a perfect opportunity to develop her skills through Simia’s summer HAF programme. Kaylee worked alongside the Simia team, supporting young people to enjoy a summer packed with fun, movement, and laughter (with delicious food from Lily’s to keep everyone energised, of course!). Her placement went so well that it led to a permanent role with Simia Circus! Kaylee is now coming up to her first anniversary as part of their team, which is a real testament to the power of collaboration, support, and belief in people’s potential.
