Recently, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Scarlett, the Business Developer at Bryter Digital, to talk about her role, her journey, and what motivates her in her work. It was a really inspiring conversation and one I took a lot away from.

Scarlett works in business development at Bryter Digital, an agency that focuses on all things digital and online. Her work helps businesses grow their online presence, find new clients, and promote the companies they work with. What really stood out to me was how people-focused her role is – it’s not just about tech, but about understanding people and helping them succeed online.

Scarlett’s career journey hasn’t been a straightforward one, and that’s something I really related to. She started out in retail management and moved into her role at Bryter Digital in the summer of 2025. She was given a chance despite having no prior experience in the digital agency world. Because she’d always worked in customer-facing roles, she already had strong people skills, which became a great foundation for her new career. It was encouraging to hear how transferable skills can open doors, even into completely new industries

No two days are the same for Scarlett. Her job is very varied – from attending networking events and meeting potential clients, to working in the office following up on leads, and even spending time out with content creators. She’s still learning a lot, and she described how there’s always something new happening, which keeps the role exciting and challenging

We also talked about the key skills needed for her role. Scarlett explained how important it is to have the drive to help people achieve their goals. Being a good problem solver and communicator is essential, as is taking a consultancy-led approach – understanding what a client’s goals are, what’s holding them back, and how digital tools can help them grow. Creativity and innovation are huge parts of the job too, especially with the rise of new technology and AI

One of the most honest parts of our conversation was around challenges. Scarlett shared how she’s had to overcome self-doubt and imposter syndrome, especially when stepping outside her comfort zone. I related this to my own experience of learning to travel by train to Ashford. At first it made me really anxious, and I had to ask for help with planning, costs, and tickets. But once I’d done it, I felt proud and more confident. It reminded me how growth often comes from doing things that feel uncomfortable at first

Scarlett also shared a bit about her younger self. As a child, she wanted to be a florist and loved My Fair Lady. Although hay fever stopped that dream from fully becoming a career, she’s never lost her love for creativity. That creativity still plays a big role in her life today

Both Bryter Digital and Lily’s Social Kitchen share similar values around inclusivity, community focus, and helping people succeed. That shared outlook really came across during our interview and is something I admire greatly

On top of her main job, Scarlett also has a side hustle where she upcycles furniture with her husband and children. They paint pieces in bright, joyful colours under the name Snug Life Furniture, which I thought was a brilliant example of creativity, family, and sustainability coming together

Overall, my interview with Scarlett was inspiring and reassuring. It showed me that career paths don’t have to be perfect or planned, and that confidence, creativity, and asking for help can make a huge difference. I’m really glad I had the chance to hear her story and share it with you.
