BNI- How referral-based networking helps us help others and ourselves
For 3rd year now, Lily’s has been part of the Business Networking International (BNI) organisation. BNI has helped us throughout our journey and allowed us to support our fellow business in the Ashford area, but what does this look like? A few weeks ago, our CEO Zoe and her colleague (pet dog) Winston, attended a BNI event and have offered insight into what goes on at the network that has helped our kitchen so greatly.
The event begins with introductions; representatives of each organisation briefly summarises the work that they have done since the last meeting. Whereas usual networking events rely on free-flowing conversation (which can be pretty intimidating for the neurodivergent among us), BNI offers a more structured approach making it feel wildly more accessible, something that perfectly suits our aims as an organisation.
BNI uses referral-based marketing, say for example one member hears someone in need of building work, they would recommend the services of a construction company within the network. This community driven, collaborative approach broadens the reach of our organisation and enables us to assist other businesses in turn.
One of the practical examples of how BNI has supported our mission is their help with our establishing of the cafe on Guildhall street. Without the backing of our fellow BNI members, this simply would not have been an option for us.
Similarly, with BNI’s support, we have been able to organise some super fun events for you all which we are so excited to share with you soon. Make sure you keep an eye out for any news or invitations!
All in all, both Zoe and Winston had a great time at the event, and we look forward to another year as part of the BNI network. For more updates follow us on Instagram @lilys_social_kitch_ct and follow Winston @winstonforwellbeing for some extra cuteness!
